Student Administration
The Student Administration team is the administrative hub that maintains student records, which is the foundation of information for students and staff across the University.
Our responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the maintenance of current student records and archiving records held on the student database CamSIS, which supports the work of the wider Student Administration team
- Assisting Colleges with updating data in CamSIS, such as recording a Student Intermission, ensuring University policy and procedures are followed and, where necessary, making complementary updates or amendments to the record
- Supporting the University’s departments and degree committees with interpreting and entering information in CamSIS, such as adding new Postgraduate Supervisors, updating a student’s subplan to accurately reflect their specific field of study, and recording Postgraduate theses submissions and degree committee’s outcome decisions on these
- Overseeing the decision-making process for applications received from postgraduate students regarding changes in student status (such as working away from Cambridge) and ensuring the record is updated to show this change
- Processing applications for students and members of staff who wish to obtain a Higher Doctorate degree award by evidencing work they've done in a specific field
- Supporting the examination team with exam preparation, from exam enrolments (and corrections), provision of operational delivery, to publication of examination results
- Processing DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks for current students and providing advice on the process
- Producing paper transcripts and certificates for current and past students and administering the online facility for both
We also authenticate information held for specific purposes such as exams, certificates and transcripts.
