Emma Rampton is the University’s Academic Secretary.  The Academic Secretary’s principal role is to support the General Board, which is the body responsible for the University’s academic policy, overseeing the teaching and research undertaken by the Schools, Faculties, Departments and other institutions.  The Academic Secretary is assisted in her work by colleagues in the Academic Division, of which she is the head. 

Before joining Cambridge, Emma worked at the University of Oxford.  She was there for over ten years, first as the Head of Administration in the Faculty of Law and latterly as Deputy University Secretary, a role in which she had responsibility for overseeing the University’s governance, compliance and assurance processes.  Emma graduated from St John’s College, Oxford, after which she qualified as a lawyer.
